A Twitch channel by the name of “aielieen1” was quickly permanently banned from the platform after the creator shared images of a woman engaged in an adult storyline.
A common problem with Twitch as any new channel can start streaming immediately, the account was brand new on November 3 and was obviously created for the sole purpose of streaming the explicit material before a ban was lifted.
Like most of these Twitch streams, this channel, aielieen1, only managed to garner a few hundred viewers before it was banned. However, the clip quickly went viral due to a viral post on Reddit falsely claiming the stream had 5,000 viewers.
The Reddit post claimed ‘this girl is masturbating in front of over 5,000 viewers’ – when in fact the stream only had 310 viewers. Several Twitter posts also echoed the claim that the channel reached 5,000 viewers.
The whole situation is likely to have been set up to promote aielieen1’s other social media pages, such as Instagram and Twitter, as the Reddit poster also shared their usernames.
It wouldn’t be the first time a mature creator has used the Twitch platform in this way. By creating a new account, pending the ban, if the clip can go viral it could push people to other accounts on other platforms.
How long is aielieen1 banned from Twitch?
While Twitch hasn’t confirmed the length of the ban, it’s almost certainly permanent. Brand new accounts that immediately violate the Community Guidelines are generally banned permanently to prevent further abuse of the platform.
The channel now simply states that unless you have a time machine, that content no longer exists. Channels that have been temporarily banned now indicate that the channel is “temporarily unavailable”.
This incident also comes a few weeks after a streamer aired himself having sex, for which they were banned for seven days, a punishment many deemed too light.
Part of Twitch’s appeal is that anyone can create an account and start streaming right away, but that freedom can also lead to situations like this.
